Charges for Partner Visas to Increase

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has announced a 50% increase in charges for Partner Visas to take effect from 1st January. This means that a Visa Application Charge for a Partner Visa lodged in Australia will cost nearly $7000. The increase is simply a revenue raising exercise by the Australian government and will not necessarily be accompanied by any improvement in service standards. It is a cynical manoeuvre by a desperate government that has had its other budget measures stonewalled in the Australian Senate. Further information is available from the Department.
